Moneim Rahama


Moneim Rahama is well-known as a journalist, poet, and activist. He co-founded the daily newspaper Ajras Al-Hurriya (Bells of Freedom), which was shut down by the Sudanese authorities.

During the 1980s, he was a co-founder of the Sudanese Writers Union. In 2011 he was arrested, He was released almost a year later and in March 2013. Rahama left his home in Khartoum, Sudan, with his wife and four children for Ethiopia. In 2015 Rahama won Oxfam Novib/PEN Award for Freedom of Expression. Rahma published more than five books.
